Neri's Story

“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” These words hit home after I turned 40. Years of studying and then working in front of a computer all day lead to a bad posture, inflexibility and neck spasms.
I started going to Stretch Pilates about 7 months ago, and I can see and feel the improvement in my body. All the trainers are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly individuals.
There are different types of classes (Foundation/Beginner/Intermediate) and even though you are challenged in each class, if for whatever reason on that day you cannot do a particular movement, the trainer will show you a modified version to try instead. It’s that kind of environment. They train you where you’re at but also show you where you could be.
I started off on 5 classes a month but have ramped it up to 9 classes now. As with most things in life, being consistent is key to seeing results. So my advice: Get Moving and Keep Moving…Stretch Pilates is a great place to make that start.

Monique's Story

I have been attending pilates classes at Stretch for almost 3 years now. I suffered a back injury in 2020, and since then have been limited in the exercises I am able to do. My doctor recommended I start pilates to help strengthen my core and my back, and it has made a world of difference in my pain levels. I do a mixture of mat and reformer classes and the combination works well for me! It is always so encouraging to see my progress after each session, and I look forward to each class. The instructors are so attentive and professional.

Tisha's Story

As a lifelong runner and regular gym visitor, after being told I had a stress fracture in my hip and NO running for 9months I was at a loss. As a runner this is like a death sentence!

Stretch Pilates opened on my doorstep and I have never looked back. My core strength, overall posture and general strength, have improved dramatically. I attend mat classes with Kate and Tammy 3-4 times a week and absolutely love it. They always have clever little exercises that activate muscles you never knew about, or, teach you how to activate the ones you need, to help the areas of weakness.

Having never done Pilates seriously before, I started from scratch and realised how weak my core actually was! I always perceived my self to be very strong.

Having always wanted to do Pilates, but never getting round to it, I now only wish I’d started earlier in my life and possibly saved myself the hip injury. I can’t understand why everyone doesn’t do it! It sorts out so many problems!

I have broken my hips twice and over the years I had become more immobile with very weak hip flexors . Even with a regular yoga practice , I could no longer stand up on my surfboard.

Then. Pilates! Jenna, Sheugnet and Loren have changed my life. I’m strong again. Swooping down waves on my surfboard with ease. I cannot recommend Stretch Pilates Studio enough!

I have been regularly attending stretch pilates since January 2022. I thoroughly enjoy all sessions .The team are great.

Recently I found myself struggling with back and neck pain . Jenna kindly interacted with my chiropractor and formulated a rehab program . She made me feel totally at ease, explaining every exercise expertly as well as liaising with Kate (who is my regular instructor),on all interventions. After every session with Kate my pain eases a lot .My core strength has improved along with balance & posture. I would thoroughly recommend Stretch Pilates . What an awesome team. Connecting and understanding my body has always been so important to me and this aligns with my professional beliefs in Occupational Therapy as well. Pilates has allowed me that mind-body connection and allowed me to honour my body and push myself to my limits and reach my fitness goals.

There is no better team I would rather be on this journey with than the Stretch Pilates team, they are knowledgeable, positive, vibey, enthusiastic, motivational, thoughtful, passionate, and encouraging instructors. I am always left with a feeling of wanting more! I have a beautiful, more holistic feeling in my body which allows me to stop and breathe as well as have control over my body in the most comfortable, supportive, fitting and happy Pilates studio.

I am definitely achieving that deeper relationship with myself on a mind-body connection level, a healing/therapeutic level as well as reaching my physical fitness goals.

Lailla's Story

I started at Stretch Pilates in Hillcrest to ease the chronic lower back ache I had after a slipped disc injury . My primary goal was to strengthen my core and flexibility so that I could do ” normal” things like bending down to dry my dog’s paws without hurting myself!
I confess to being very apprehensive and impressed upon Stefan that I was unfit from not exercising  enough and was frankly worried about aggravating  the backache.
Stefan was patient and encouraging, starting slowly and gradually helping me to build my confidence  and strength.  I grew to love my sessions and the ultimate proof that I had made the right decision was my orthopaedic’s comment last month  that my hip mobility and flexibility was greatly improved.
I have had the pleasure  of working with Jenna, (Stefan’s exceptionally knowledgeable  wife) , Rachelle – an equally experienced and hands on biokineticist) and Nicole ( a bubbly, energetic instructress) and all have contributed greatly to my progress.
Over and above being excellent  at his job as a Pilates instructor, Stefan’s ability to empathise and listen was a double win for me- fitness and therapy  in one! I couldn’t have asked for more.
